Belief

As part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we are joined in the movement for wholeness in a fragmented world. You will find many people from our congregation and denomination working for that wholeness in a variety of ways–feeding the hungry and homeless, building and re-building homes, welcoming all people in the name of Christ. In our congregation, we’ve chosen to talk about the work to which Christ calls us with, “Worshiping, Witnessing and Working to the glory of God.”

We do not have a creed or statement of faith. That’s part of our design, part of our movement for wholeness. Because there is only “one Lord, one faith, one baptism,” we also believe there is only one church (Eph. 4:5). We always seek to welcome and work with all believers, regardless of denomination. We are certain that our Savior binds us together more strongly than our differences.

So what does that mean on Sunday morning?

Congregational: We are a congregational tradition, meaning congregations choose and call their ministers. In this tradition, we also believe everyone is called to active ministry in the church. This means you’ll find lay leaders in all aspects of church life, from small group ministries to leading in worship. Most notably, elders, called by our congregation, serve and preside over communion.

Communion: We celebrate communion every Sunday, and may celebrate it at other times when we gather as well. Because Christ’s table is open to everyone, ours is, too.

Baptism: True to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), we practice believer’s baptism by immersion. However, we recognize all forms of baptism as valid. No matter how or when you were baptized, you are welcome in this congregation.
